Sugaw (Sugar) Creek Presbyterian Church [1]

Sugaw or Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church is located on North Tryon Street. Founded in 1755, it is one of the oldest Presbyterian churches in Mecklenburg County. The Reverend Alexander Craighead served as the first minister. This photograph is of the current church on this site and was taken on April 25, 1934. It was built in 1870.
