Sunnyside Rose Garden

The Sunnyside Rose Garden was planted in 1931 by the Charlotte Garden Club. At the time this postcard was taken, it contained 59 varieties of roses and 4,700 bushes. It was located on 7th Street. Physical Description: 3x5 Publisher: Genuine Curteich

Wilder Building

The Wilder Building was located at the corner of 3rd and South Tryon Streets. It was named for Dr. Hillory Madison Wilder, who once owned a residence on this site. Fifth Mecklenburg County Courthouse

Freedom Park

Observer Fresh Air Camp

Charlotte Municipal Airport

The Charlotte Municpal Airport opened in 1937 under the auspices of the city of Charlotte.
During World War II, the United States Army Airforce  took over the management of the airport and established Morris Field Air Base in 1941. The airfield was used by the Third Airforce for antisubmarine patrols and training. After the war, a passenger terminal was added, and the airport was renamed the Douglas Municipal Airport in honor of Mayor Ben E. Douglas (1894-1981).
