Adolphus Webb, Jr.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He entered the Canadian Air Corps at age 19. After Pearl Harbor was attacked, he transferred to the U. S. Air Corps. He had been flying with the 27th Fighter Squadron in Italy. He was last seen when his squadron was escorting B-26 planes to a bombing mission in Italy, when they went to the aid of three P-38 planes, which were being attacked by the enemy. He was first reported as missing and was later declared dead.

Maxwell Tomb, Jr.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: In the 1920 census, the family lived in Charleston, West Virginia. While he was a junior high student in Charlotte, his father worked as a manager for Whitney & Kemmerer Inc. His family lived at 1007 Central Ave. in 1932. Lt. Tomb enlisted in the Army Air Corps in Harrisburg, PA. At the time of his induction, he had completed four years of high school, was currently working in the oil and gas industry and was 68 inches tall and 142 pounds. He was survived by his older brother, Robert H. Tomb of Charlotte, and his mother, Mrs. Maxwell H.
