Ralph Ritch

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Memorial service held at Southside Baptist Church, December 12, 1944. Another memorial service was held at the US Rubber Co. in April 1945, with Mrs. L. A. Ritch receiving a gold star and an Army testament.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Killed from wounds sustained during the battle of San Pietro. Old tent-mate visited Mrs. Rowell in Charlotte.

Eugene Gene Sellers

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: LCT vessel capsized in typhoon off of Okinawa and he drowned. Buried in the island cemetery and a memorial service was held by his crew.

Leonard Ritter, Jr.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He went overseas on 2-4-1943. He was wounded on Tarawa on 11-20-1943. He was wounded again in the invasion of Saipan, which resulted in his death. Burial was at sea with full honors. A memorial service was held on 9-10-1944 at Wilson Heights Baptist Church. A memorial marker is located at the National Cemetery in Honolulu, HI.

William Rowell

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Killed in action in Italy after 3 years overseas.

Kenneth Shamburg

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: When his combat patrol reached enemy lines it was surrounded. Not known if he was killed or taken prisoner. Buried with memorial marker in the Netherlands.

Albert Roberts

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He served in the South Pacific for 28 months. He returned to the U.S. for 6 months then returned overseas as a replacement. He was wounded at Guadalcanal, and was among the first ones to land. He died immediately from a shrapnel wound that he received when the Marines landed on Oroku Peninsula on Okinawa. He is buried on Okinawa in the 6th Division Cemetery that overlooks the bay.
