Memorial service at Sardis ARP Church on Jan 2, 1945, and at Dover Airfield on Jan 7, 1945. Burial in the church cemetery. The Miller-Peoples Bible Class is named for church members Richard Preston Peoples and Julian Miller, Jr., who both died in service in WWII. Preston Lane in Charlotte is named for Preston Peoples.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Quarles became ill in England, was taken to Walter Reed Hospital, and then to Charlotte. He died after a 10 month battle with cancer. He is buried in Chapel Hill Cemetery. His wife was also a UNC student.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: A B17 bomber from Clovis Army Airbase was on a combat training flight and crashed about 30 miles from Colorado Springs. It was not found until May 21st. Because the bodies could not be identified, they were all buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Mr. Perry attended these services.
