Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Died from wounds received in action in the invasion of Southern France in the late summer. Memorial service at Spencer Memorial Methodist Church in 1944. Joined the National Guard in May, 1936.

Hunter Marshall, III

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He was killed in action when his merchant ship, a tanker called the Merrimack, was torpedoed by submarines and sunk in the Caribbean. A high speed transport named for him, the USS Hunter Marshall, was launched at the Bingham, MA shipyard on May 5, 1945. There is a memorial marker in Battery Park, NYC.

William McClintic, Jr.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Died from mortar fire wounds received on March 4, after 2 weeks of severe battle duty on Iwo Jima. Buried in the Fifth Maine Division cemetery on Iwo Jima. Memorial marker at Punchbowl National Cemetery, Honolulu, HI.

Eric Lord

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Killed in a plane crash at Thompson-Robbins field in Helena, Arkansas, where he was training. McKenzie Funeral Home in Whiteville handled his funeral. Burial at Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church Cemetery between Elizabethtown and Acme.

Oziel Martinez

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Oziel had come to the U. S. more than a year before his death to join the Army. He met his wife while stationed at Camp Mackall and was married on Christmas, 1943. The War Dept. had not given details of his death to his wife at the time when his obituary was printed on 8-3-1944.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Killed in action in Okinawa. Memorial service on Dec 9, 1945 at Mt. Zion Methodist Church.

Ferdinand Marz, Jr.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He was killed in action in Belgium just three days after returning to the battlefield. He had been recuperating from a wound he received on 12-24-1944. His memorial service was held at St. Marks Lutheran Church on 2-4-1945. Lt. Marz is buried at Forest Lawn West Cemetery on Freedom Drive.

Ernest McConnell

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He was in the town of Frankenburg, Germany, and the citizens later named their theater McConnell Theatre in appreciation of him. He was buried in the U. S. Military Cemetery, St. Avold, France, plot E, row 10, grave 695. This cemetery is located 25 miles east of Metz, France.
