Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He participated in 18 missions. He was a crew member of a B-17 Flying Fortress bomber that was hit by anti-aircraft fire over Bremen. Four men managed to bail out before the plane exploded. His plane was one of thirty bombers that were lost on that mission. A memorial service was held on 7-14-1946 at First Baptist Church.

He was killed when the Lockheed-Hudson B-34 plane he was a passenger in crashed two miles from Morris Field southwest of the runway after first circling the field. He was riding with pilot Joe F. Cannon, Jr. and co-pilot, J. R. Ibing. At the time of the crash, he was living at 2220 Malvern Rd., Charlotte. He had caught a ride with Cannon from Dallas to Charlotte to get his wife and children to move them to Dallas, TX.
