Mecklenburg Colonial Heritage Weekend  

The Hezekiah Alexander Foundation in Cooperation with Charlotte Parks & Recreation cordially invites you to help celebrate May 20-21, 1989 on the grounds of the Hezekiah Alexander Homesite.  

 

Saturday, May 20

 

11 a.m. - Doug Mayes (as Thomas Polk) Will Read The Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence

Carla Dupuy will read the County Proclamation

Al Rousso will read the City Proclamation

Dr. James Sasser will give historical commentary

12 noon - Barbeque luncheon – Oehler’s Mallard Creek Barbeque will be served at $5.00 per plate

2:30 pm - Garinger Band Concert, house open for walk thru tour at no charge, museum exhibits and historic film to be shown  

 

Sunday, May 21

 

The bi-centennial of the First Presbyterian General Assembly in America.

2:30 pm - Dr. John Kurkendale – early church history

3:30 pm - Cake will be cut and refreshments served
