His memorial service was held at the West Avenue Presbyterian Church on July 16, 1944, by his former pastor, Dr. W. W. Akers of Gastonia. His B-17 or Flying Fortress, where he served as navigator, was probably lost during attack on Brunswick, Germany, an aircraft parts manufacturing town. A memorial marker in his honor is in Ardennes, France.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He grew up in Charlotte and graduated from Central High School. Air Medal for meritorius achievement in sorties over Africa. Missing in action in the Mediterranean theater. Memorial marker in North Africa. Memorial service at Westminster Presbyterian Church in May 28, 1944 and on Jul 21,1946. In 2000, workers dredging Lake Tunis found his plane with the remains of five crew members. He was identified through his sister's DNA. Services with full military honors will be held June 8, 2003 at Bethel Presbyterian Church near Clover, SC.
