Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: The War Dept. received notification of his death through the Red Cross, who had been contacted by the German government. His memorial service was held at the West Avenue Presbyterian Church on July 16, 1944, by his former pastor, Dr. W. W. Akers of Gastonia. His B-17 or Flying Fortress, where he served as navigator, was probably lost during attack on Brunswick, Germany, an aircraft parts manufacturing town. A memorial marker in his honor is in Ardennes, France.
