Another Big Crowd at the Park Last Night

The attendance at the carnival show at Latta Park last night was another record-breaker.  It is estimated that nearly 4,000 people were on the grounds parading the noisy midway from early dusk till midnight.  Soon after the crowd assembled and got into the spirit of celebrating, a cannon was fired announcing the beginning of the big fire works display.  Bombs, sky rockets and giant crackers were exploded making a noise loud enough to hear a distance of several miles.  The continued explosion and firing of cannon, musket and gattling gun created an excitement up town that something was surely doing at the carnival and scores who had not thought of going out boarded street cars and joined the hilarious crowd.

The Battery boys are exerting every effort to make things lively and interesting at the Festival.  A squad of them are on duty throughout the day.  The St. Louis Amusement Company has settled down to work and the dozen or more shows are doing, and will continue to do throughout the week, a thriving business.
