Tompkins Tower

The Tompkins Tower, named for its owner, Daniel A. Tompkins was located at 133-135 South Church Street. It was built around 1905 and housed the Charlotte Observer newspaper between 1914 and 1923. Stuart Warren Cramer (1868-1934)

Textile Industrialist, Stuart Warren Cramer was born in 1868 in Thomasville, North Carolina. He designed a number of textile mills and villages in the Charlotte region, including the area now known as the North Davidson Historic District.
