William Funderburk

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He died from injuries sustained when a jeep in which he and several companions were returning from an army mission was overturned. The 213 men in his squadron adopted Williams son and sent 25 English pounds monthly to Mrs. Funderburk. They had already sent $180 to help with the delivery expenses. The men in the squadron also made William Jr. an honorary member of the squadron.

Ralph Ford

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Japanese POW captured on Corregidor, held at Camp 1, Cabanatuan, Nueva Province Luzon. Died when the Japanese vessel he was on, the Enoura Maru, was bombed and sunk in Subic Bay. Memorial marker at Fort McKinley, Manila, PI.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Killed by a locomotive in Barrackpore, India.

Robert Graham, Jr.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He died suddenly from a heart attack in a Washington hospital. His body was brought to Hovis Funeral Home in Charlotte. His memorial service was held at First Baptist Church on July 14, 1946.

Walter Ford, Jr.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He was killed in an accident while trying to remove a mine. He was buried with full military honors in the 10th Row, Plot R at Margraten Cemetery, between Maastricht and Aachen, Holland.

William Gallagher

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Killed at Quonsett Point, RI when the wing of his TB7 failed, and they crashed into the ocean. Memorial services at Tabernacle ARP Church on May 31, 1944. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Charlotte with full military honors.

Francis Fort

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He was a member of a crew in a bomber which departed from Italy on a combat mission to Wiener Neustadt, Austria on July 16. The plane sustained damage during the mission and went into a spin. Two members of the crew got out and were taken prisoner, while he struggled to land the burning plane and save the injured men inside it.
