October 12, 1980 - Bearden’s exhibit opens at the Mint.

• Charlotte born artist Romare Bearden’s exhibit opens at the Mint Museum of Art.
• Bearden is one of the most famous African American artists in the country. His works hang in such museums as New York City’s Museum of Modern Art and Metropolitan Museum of Art.
