A night time view of the Liberty Life Building in Charlotte at 112 South Tryon Street. Originally known as the First National Bank in 1927, the name changed in 1940 when Liberty Life Insurance Company of Greenville, South Carolina purchased the property.
The Trust Building on South Tryon Street housed the Charlotte Opera House (1902-1922) on the first floor. A number of other businesses had offices in the Trust Building, including the Southern Power Company as well as the Academy of Music.

The Louise Cotton Mill was built at 1101 Hawthorne Lane in Charlotte. At the time of its completion in 1897, it was the largest mill in Charlotte. In 1901, a large additon was completed.
