Main Library (1956)

Charlotte Carnegie Library

The Charlotte Carnegie Library as it appeared on a postcard. It was addressed to Mr. John Wilkes from Annie Smith Ross, Charlotte's first librarian. This facility was demolished in the 1950s. Charlotte Mecklenburg Library (1956)

The second Charlotte Public Library opened its doors in 1956. Like the first library, it was located at 310 North Tryon Street. This building was replaced in 1988 with a modern facility on the same site. Physical Description: 3 x 5 postcard Publisher: Dexter Press
