Barringer Hotel

The Barringer Hotel opened its doors on December 15, 1940. Located at 425 North Tryon Street, it was built by Lawrence S. Barringer and his sister, Floral Barringer. The hotel was named for their father, William Rufus Barringer, who was a former owner of a string of elegant hotels in the south. The Barringer during its heydays was one of the finest establishments in the city. Hotel Charlotte

The Hotel Charlotte opened is doors in 1923. It was located at the corner of West Trade and Poplar Streets. The hotel was the most popular hotel in Charlotte. During the 1920s, the Hotel Charlotte was site of an early recording studio. Bill Monroe, the Delmore Brothers and other country music legends made their early recordings at the hotel.
