Plum Thickets and Field Daisies [1]

Plum Thickets and Field Daisies is Rose Leary Love's memoir of her life in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Charlotte. She left the original manuscript in the care of her friends. When the Brooklyn she described ceased to exist, the historical value of the manuscript increased. Realizing this, her friends transferred the memoir to the Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room for care and preservation.

Since then, it has provided valuable insight for students, scholars and authors as they compiled research papers, doctoral theses and even the script for a play. Because of the warmth, humor and joy discovered in Mrs. Love's writings, it became evident that her memories of Brooklyn should be shared with a wider audience.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is pleased to publish Plum Thickets and Field Daisies.
