When he left for Boston, he only had 3 hours notice. His father was President of the Carolinas Auto Supply Co. His brother, Sgt. Owen FitzSimons, was in the 30th Division and stationed at Camp Sevier, Greenville, SC. Listed on the World War serviceman's plaque at St. Peter's Episcopal Church on North Tryon.
