Biographical Notes: 
He arrived overseas in July 1918 and wrote his parents a note on a Red Cross postcard. His remarks were printed in The Charlotte Observeron 7/7/1918. His parents later received notice in November 1918, that he was a German POW, but he would be set free. He was a negro soldier. He was the son of Rebecca by her first marriage.
