In an article that was published in the paper that was taken from a letter written to his friend, T. C. Ritch of N. Allen St. in Charlotte, he commented on how fascinated he was with the French wearing wooden shoes and how they had trained their cattle to respond to the sound of a horn.His name appears on the city draft roll. These draft cards have not survived. He was white and 27 years old.
