Biographical Notes: 
Upson was not in the military but served as the Field Director, Camp Services, for the American Red Cross. The Red Cross at Camp Greene provided many support services, one including providing a Christmas tree and organizing the collection of Christmas gifts from the children of Charlotte to the children of the Camp Greene officers and enlisted men in December 1917.
