He appears on the draft roll for the city of Charlotte. These draft cards did not survive. He was white and 21 years old. He was listed in the 1918 city directory as US Army). He was wounded three times in France, once on October 17, 1918. His company was from Charlotte under the leadership of Captain Clarence E. Boasch. Guy Winthrop was its First Lieutenant. Brown spent 18 months with the army of occupied Germany.His funeral and burial were held at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church.
