Oglethrope, where he received his commission of second lieutenant.He knew his wife for three years prior to their marriage. They honeymooned in Asheville and made their home in Spartanburg, SC. Mrs. Mallard lived in Charlotte with her mother while Lieutenant Mallard was overseas.
