There is conflicting information as to whether he was born in 1882 or 1884. He did not graduate with the Davidson class of 1906. He practiced medicine in Graham and Jackson Springs, NC prior to the war. The newspaper lists him as the first medical officer from Mecklenburg County to die in the service. He was doing first aid work in the trenches and was killed in battle.He was buried in the Aisne-Marne Cemetery in France.His wife is listed in Ancestry.com as living at 409 W. Union St. in Morganton, NC. and wanting to participate in the 1930 pilgrimage to Europe.
