J. Moore [1]

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force before the United States entered the war. His wife was living in Spartanburg, SC, at the time of his death.

Originally from Anderson County, SC, he had worked in Charlotte prior to his entry into the Royal Canadian Air Force. When his wife received the news of his death, it was unclear whether he had been killed in England or somewhere on the Continent. The newspaper said he was 27 in the summer of 1941.

His letters home while serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force were published in the Charlotte News. The News article announcing his death featured a photograph of his brother, Herman A. Moore, in uniform together with his wife, Sgt. Moore's sister-in-law.
