Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He died at sea after his ship, the U.S.S. St. Lo (formerly known as the U.S.S. Midway) was attacked by enemy forces. A memorial service was held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Union Co., NC, on 11-18-1945. Memorial marker in Ft McKinley, Manila, PI.
