1970 - New Friendship Baptist Church is Dedicated

July 5, 1970 - Rev. Colemon Kerry, Jr., leads the dedication of the new Friendship Baptist Church on Beatties Ford Road.

  • In 1963, Friendship’s Brevard Street sanctuary was demolished by the city as part of urban renewal.
  • After more than seven years of holding church services at the Northwest Junior High School Auditorium, the church is able to raise the funds to rebuild.
  • William Morrow and Walter Ervin break ground for the new church (pictured).
  • Rev. Kerry lays the cornerstone [1] for the church.
