1914 - Parade [1]

Mecklenburg women expressed their desire to be free to vote on this Meck Dec parade float [2] in 1914. It would take another five years for Congress to pass the 19th Amendment. The suffrage movement took 61 years before women won the right to vote.

Military units from all over the state and region [3] participated in early Meck Dec celebrations. This group of soldiers [4] marched in the 1914 parade.
