Biographical Notes:
He was reported missing in action on October 10, 1918, when his plane was brought down behind German lines. His family later received a telegram that he had died in a German prison.Information in the Davidsonian Roll of Honor and a later Charlotte Observer article state that he died on October 10th at Lamauriere field hospital of abdominal and chest wounds sustained in aerial combat.He is buried at St. Mihiel American Cemetery.
