He was an only child. He was wounded in the head while overseas and wrote his wife that he had gone 'over the top twice in two days.' His injury paralyzed his right leg and arm. When he returned, Dr. Frazier of Philadelphia used part of his rib to repair the injury to his skull. He was recovering successfully until he developed pneumonia in his right lung.He attended the Paris Convention of the American Legion from September 19-24, 1927.
