Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He and all the members of his crew were killed in a plane crash while on a mission to deliver supplies to bases in India and to Indian, British and Chinese allies. A memorial service was held at Dilworth Methodist Church on 10-7-1945. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Captured by Japanese on Corregidor in February, 1942 and held as a POW. He was held at PW Camp 1- Cabanatuan 1-2-3, Nueva Province Luzon, Philippines. Declared dead when the Japanese ship that he and 1775 others were on, the Arisan Maru, was sunk in the South China Sea. A card from him was received by his father on Sep 11, 1945 bearing Japanese postmarks. It was turned over to the Adjutant General for investigation.Memorial marker in Ft. Wm McKinley, Manila, PI.

A memorial services was held at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in North Carolina in December, 1945. The services were directed by the members of the Fred L. Brewer Post No. 4, local Negro post of the American Veterans of World War II.

He was killed in an automobile accident while on his way home to visit his mother on his first leave. The funeral was held at the Crouch Funeral Home, 800 S. Tryon St. in Charlotte. Dr. Luther Little, pastor of First Baptist Church, conducted the services. Burial followed in Oaklawn Cemetery, Charlotte.
