Large cotton fields surrounded the hospital at Camp Greene. These nurses, who arrived in the fall of 1918 and thought they would soon be sent overseas, were still stationed at Camp Greene in June 1918. They are Misses Shaffer, Fuller, Lepalla and Schermerhorn.

Although Camp Greene did not have a swimming pool, nearby Lakewood Park provided just what the soldiers wanted on a hot summer day.
