Advertisements aimed at Camp Greene soldiers

Sample newspaper advertisments aimed at Camp Greene soldiers:

Top Left - Photographers in Mecklenburg County were plentiful during World War I. Many, unlike Scott's Studio at 14 North Tryon, set up temporary quarters near Camp Greene.

Bottom Left - Local merchants, such as the Ed. Mellon Co., sold military items to the soldiers.

Top Right - "Boys of Camp Greene and visitors to Charlotte" were invited to come to one of the most Sanitary Barber Shops in the South! It was located on The Square, the intersection of Trade and Tryon Streets.

Bottom Right - Beatty's Drug Store sold U. S. Sentry radium dial watches for $5.00 claiming they were the one best gift for soldiers. No one knew then how unhealthy radium exposure was.
