Died of pneumonia, after contracting Spanish influenza in the great epidemic. The soldier escorting his body home came down with influenza in Wilmington, thus delaying the funeral. Interred at Elmwood Cemetery on October 7, 1918. Sergeant Sear, of Camp Greene, sounded taps.
