His name was on the Service Flag of First Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC. 9/22/1918. He was loudly applauded at his graduation from the Naval Academy because he was the grandchild of General Thomas 'Stonewall' Jackson. His appointment to the Academy was by President Roosevelt in 1906. His nicknames in college were 'Jack' and 'Captain Jack.'
