John Hinson

Hinson was on special duty on 9/5/1918 as an M. P. by order of Capt. William O. McGeehan. His job was to break a prostitution ring at Blake Auto Service in Charlotte. Posing as a military 'customer,' he approached a chauffeur working for Blake Auto Service and asked for a woman. When the driver produced a woman, they were arrested. Blake was named as the head of the ring, and he was later arrested. On 9/9/1918, Blake met Hinson on a Charlotte street and called him an obscene name in the presence of witnesses. Hinson arrested Blake and turned him over to the Chief of Police. He was released and was set for trial on 9/10/1918. According to McGeehan's report on 9/9/1918, Blake said at City Hall that 'he had plenty of money to pay fines' and said other inappropriate remarks. Hinson's commander, McGeehan, requested the Camp Greene Commanding Officer take away Blake's license.
