Biographical Notes: 
Served with the British forces and participated in a dozen or more battles on the Western Front. He was seriously injured by poison gas in May, 1918 in the Battle of Cambral, and again in July at Dickenbush.He started with the Charlotte Police Department in 1924 and worked there until his death, although for the last few years he was on the disabled list. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's, with burial following at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
