Biographical Notes: 
He was in the service for 9 years and served in Santo Domingo as a Quartermaster Sergeant. When the first Marines went to France in 1917, he was asked to stay at his local post, but refused this place of safety. He was one of the Marines who meet the German drive for Paris northwest of Chateau Thierry. Buried at Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in Belleau, France, Plot A Row 02 Grave 69.Although his home was in Charlotte, he lived in Montogomery, AL before entering the service.Cenotaph at Elmwood Cemetery.
