Good Samaritan Hospital and Dr. James A. Pethel
Good Samaritan Hospital, established in 1881, was the first privately run hospital exclusively for blacks in the United States.
Right: Dr. James A. Pethel practiced medicine in Charlotte from 1904 to 1950.
