Below are stories of military personnel and civilians and their experiences in Mecklenburg County during the years 1941-1946.

 

 

  • On March 23, 2000, three Mecklenburg County veterans spoke about their experiences at a public event sponsored by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. :

 Crawford J. Ferguson, III - a gunner in the Army Air Force

Martha Pegram Mitchell - a nurse in North Africa and Italy

Charles Malvern Paty, Jr. - a radioman in the Navy
