“Brooklyn to Biddleville:" A talk with Dr. Tom Hanchett, historian-in-residence with the Carolina Room of the Library Look back at Charlotte’s impressive African American “city within a city,” the Brooklyn neighborhood where today’s Government Center now stands. It's the subject of a new exhibition at Levine Museum of the New South. And learn about Charlotte's black “college town” — Biddleville in the Historic West End around Johnson C. Smith University.
