New Websites
Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room Image Collection Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room Image Collection
We're proud to announce a new feature. For the first time, the library’s image collection is available online. At this time, four collections appear on the website. The Hornet’s Nest, which is the oldest photograph collection in the Carolina Room; The Charlotte Postcard Collection that features colorful images of old Charlotte, The Myers Park Collection, which documents the development of this historic suburb, and the D.A. Tompkins Collection that captures the agricultural life in Mecklenburg County. Many of the photographs date to the mid-to-late nineteenth century. The collections display a wide range of subjects, and they are wonderful resource for documenting Charlotte's history as well as visualizing the many changes that have taken place in the city. Researchers seeking permission to use any of these images should contact the Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room at (704) 336-2980.
