Chas. Emerson & Co. Charlotte City Directory 1879-1880

1879-80 Directory

City directories are published annually by a variety of companies for most major cities. Charlotte's first known directory was published in 1875. Although the amount of information changes through the years, directories can be a wonderful source of information for addresses, name of spouse, and occupations. Directories often highlight the positive aspects of the community by including business ads and information about schools, churches, government agencies and recreational opportunities.
